Statement
BACKGROUND
In 2004 I left teaching to study Fine Art at Central Saint Martins and Byam Shaw School of Art. In 2008 I graduated with an MA in Printmaking and Professional Practice from the University of Brighton, in association with the London Print Studio.
STATEMENT
My prints are a response to my fascination with the aesthetics and ephemerality of nature. I am inspired by both the simplicity and complexity of natural forms. My work is concerned with accepting that everything is in a state of transition and acknowledging the inevitability of decay, death and rejuvenation.
My digital prints are created by manipulating my original photographic images and combining them with layers of colour. I like to view my prints as an amalgamation of parts taken from nature with each layer representing changes that have gone before, life-cycles and the passage of time. I aim to bring the images to life by working with these layers in order to create an intensity of colour, light, movement and depth.
